How about making a special
banjo with a fine thread set screw to adjust the orifice size in order to
compensate somewhat for pump wear?
How about just having new vanes put in the pump if they're that worn?
That's usually what would be contributed to low pump pressure. Kinda
like putting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator in a FI gasser when
you hear the pump howling and experience low fuel pressure problems.
From experience, higher pressure chokes down the fuel delievery in
a GM pump so higher pressure would make for a high fuel situation,
which could easily be compensated for by cranking down the fueling.
Haven't really looked to see if the VE pump works similarly or not. I
seem to remember reference to load sensitive timing on some of the
later VE pumps. That was pressure controlled I believe.
