Could runaway possibly be effected by a defect in the pump,
which causes stick-shun with the gov'nor or something.
Seeing as the accelerator lever is only attached via a
spring to the fuelling and not rigidly fixed... Just poking
a finger into the 'zone of proximal development'

I'm a big fan of the partially blocked valve cover gauze for
causes of oil blowby.

Those rubber gaskets are the 'dog's jobblies'... on my first
conversion I filed all the stud ridges off by hand..only to
find the replacement studs were in a little packet  stuck on
the card board box the gasket came in.. Ah well, good filing
practice :o)
