I worked for BMW through the 80's & they had big troubs with carbon build up
on intake valves & ports. Cars would hesitate & barely run when cold. Solution
was to unbolt manifold & affix apparatus which blasted all with crushed
walnut shells. Worked very well, but labor intensive.
BG PRODUCTS came out with stuff called 44K, a fuel addative which cleans
right down to the metal in one tank. We pulled manifold after one tank just to be
sure. I've used it in my own gassers with marked results. Never tried in
diesel, though BG says it is good for diesel too. Is available only from car
dealers or on Ebay from a Jeep dealer out West. Might be worth a try.
