[Vwdiesel] Metric for beginners --- ( for Rabbit lovers mostly )

I shall write more about Metric for our American friends later.
WHY ?   I owe so much to my American friends.

Hagar.   the metric NUT.

Metric SNAFUS ?  are a danger ?   ----and costly ?   -----American spacepropbe
lost  due to mixup   metric ---many People lost their lives due to metric mixup.
If we were all metric ?    there would be no problem.

Here is a first hand true story of a bad mixup. :

I get a Rabbit  ---salty thing ---rear brakes are a mess.   No problem   Cylinders
are cheap   so I will just replace cylinders and steel lines.  ----I needed a handful
of "ferrules"  ?    the threaded thingies that hold the lines on to cylinders.

I take a brand new cylinder to the local auto store and tell them it is for a VW Rabbit .
Counter person takes my cylinder out back and comes with a bunch of
ferrules.   -----  After doing a bunch of lines  --- I realised that the thread was sloppy..
That could have killed me.     It was a bunch of SAE  ferrules.

Is that important information ?     ---it is  IMHO.

So my american   FRIENDS  ---make sure you get proper metric fittings for the brakes.
Not double flare    ---  "Bubble flare" .      Some day you may be lucky
and wisit this place    --and take my word ---    coming down  Jackass Mountain
with the wind up your ass -----you may need them thar brakes.
