One other thing is the timing belt on the auto is on a replacement
frequency 20k miles less than an auto. The 01 manual 60k and auto 40k.
They increased to 80k/60k later. I think it was 03.

As long as the timing belt is changed and the oil changed regularly
there should not be any issues. Be aware that these later cars have a
lot more electronics. For example, the key on our 02 is encoded. If it
gets damaged, wet, the battery goes dead- we are screwed, you walk home.
You need a book to do anything, these are not intended to be user
serviced so there are limits to what you may want to work on. A far cry
from 1986.
