It is from the European A series Mercedes...probably 2 liter. Rated at 135
hp. Overhaul/replacement time will be extended as operational flight
experience is obtained. Most aircraft engines started life with 800-1000 hr
TBOs,

I came across an article recently from the November AOPA about the
Diamond, Twin Star diesel. Cover page even! Pretty interesting except
they're using Mercedes engines and only have a European 1000 hr TBR.
No TBO at all. :-( A Mercedes engine sure should be good for much longer
than that but I'm sure it weighs in a little heavy too. Pricey too! $25K
each!
Anyway, here's scans of all pages other than the other half of the plane
from
the first page. Hmmm, just noticed there's an article about a "big v-6 from
Rotax" in there also.
