Fortunately, I was able to use the overwhelming voice of the list to convince my friend to borrow a real truck.  I even made him take some towing lights.  So the odds are much better.  He will be leaving tomorrow morning, so if you do see a truck towing a beat-up caddy across the south, that'll be him.
