I've heard about the fuel Scott's municipality runs their more finicky
diesels
on. I tend to doubt all of your problems are strictly fuel related.
Exacerbated
very possibly but these engines will run on nearly anything. With additives,

gas and kerosene in there, the problem shouldn't be viscosity. It's sounding

more like an ice cube somewhere. Of course the ratio of fuel to the
additions makes a difference as does the temp. Water only needs 32F
though.
The mid 80's Ford pickups, at least the 6.9s, maybe some of the 7.3s
had a TERRIBLE fuel filter that caused drivability and starting issues,
especially if there was any restriction anywhere. Orchard had 3 of them.
Dad's was the only one that would run. One had a pinch in one of the
fuel lines to it, the other just plain froze up. It took about a teaspoon of

water to block fuel flow in that unit! Draining it as per the instructions
left it leaking non stop.
The A2 bodies have a water seperator where the gasser's fuel pump is,
near the RR wheel. Even the dealer didn't know it existed on mine. They
kept trying to sell me a fuel filter when I went in for a new cap for the
water
seperator. Took about a half hour and a patient parts man to finally find
it.
They were getting REALLY testy with me up until then. Mine had at least
a quart of water in it.
