[Vwdiesel] Bunny No Crank

Thanks guys~

Seat belt eh Perry? Don't you just hate those silly buzzers on seat
belts?
I don't like buzzers, especially the "you left your key in the ignition"
buzzers on most cars. They make me feel exceptionally stupid as I'll
still lock the keys in the car- bells ringing, lights flashing!

I've changed out and salvaged those cute little plastic ignition
switches from the Rabbit D's. One of my '81's would not stay in the
"ON" position after the engine started unless you held you mouth just
right. The PO had marked a line on the escutcheon right where the key
had to line up. Car would turn itself off over and over (made for a
good buy Perry).
I replaced the inner switch (different from gassers) and no more
problemo!

I'm betting on the spade connector to the solenoid has come loose.
Probably some damn cat crawling around in the engine compartment. And
to think, Hagar actually funds the salvation of such beasts! ;-)

I had one of our farm cats get tangled-up in the engine compartment of a
Bunny a couple of years ago. The feline panicked, made a lunge and
broke it's leg. Then it proceeded to try to struggle resulting in a
nasty compound fracture. Poor thing- I liked that cat.

Another cat we had got up into the windshield wiper alcove for a snooze.
5 miles down the road I heard this awful moaning. The cat was fine but
had to ride home in the pickup bed. I had a topper at the time- lucky
cat/lucky me! I did have cat hair in the cab when I turned on the
blower fan!

Now I have doors on the shop and cats are not usually allowed unless
accompanied by a human.

I'd do a jump like Hagar says from battery to solenoid. Also
try beyond solenoid to check starter itself if the above
doesn't work.
On some of the circuits used by VW the signal from the
ignition switch goes into the fuse board and back out. (not
via a fuse) but through one of the brass strips in the back
of it. I believe that the 'A' types suffered from water on
the fuse board and the two round pin connectors are piss
poor to say the least...
finally the ignition switches are wearoutable..
