If there is no evidence of rear seal leak I'm not going to replace the
engine rear main seal.

  Of course if you don't it WILL leak two weeks later.  ;-)  But then if 
you do it might also.  My Rabbit did that to me.  Only leaked long 
enough to lube up the clutch disk. 
  DO replace the pushrod seal, check the ends of the pushrod for 
wear and check the bushing just inside the input shaft for that 
pushrod.  If IT leaks it WILL dump gear oil where it'll get onto the 
disk.
