[Vwdiesel] Ford Escort Turbo Diesel

I like them.  Very dependable cars, if you follow basic maintenance.
The main problem with the car is the head gasket can be weak, if you
overheat
the engine.  A simple preventative measure is to replace the radiator
and coolant
every few years.  I think the last radiator I bought was about $60.  I
can't
even get them cleaned for that.  I put 240,000 miles on my main Tempo
before 
the rust monster got it, and the only thing that ever put me on the side
of the 
road was a siezed water pump, and a bad alternator.  The water pump gave
me
20,000 miles warning, but I ignored it.  Lesson learned.
It got 46 mpg, running I-94 at 80mph with the AC and cruise on.  
The backyard is full of them because I bought the entire inventory of a
gentlemen
who wanted to get out of the cars and move to mercedes and Vw diesels.
