picked up the head
everything looks OK but head guy was concerned about one of the lifter 
bores that had been kind of chewed up by shrapnel when that lifter got 
shattered
he said "you'll know right away" (whether the head's gonna work or not) 
(on startup), meaning there's significant doubt in his mind whether the 
head will function properly at all; i.e. that lifter may fail to 
pressurize and that #1 intake valve may never open, or only open 
partially

question: is there any way to test head function, oil pressure, etc 
before I install the head? or at least anything to look for?
