[Vwdiesel] New TDIs...common rail injection

No, the new engines have whats called Pumpe Deuse or PD for short.
Each injector has an integral pump, and is actuated by a lobe on the
camshaft.
Common rail injection is different, in that it uses electrically
operated
injectors and an engine driven high pressure pump that feeds a fuel
rail.
Pressures are similar, and both have similar advantages, such as
multiple
injection events. This can help minimize the severity of start of
combustion.
