Just did a key word search...Ha Ha Ha

Look at the MB list I found at the end of this message too

Too Many Keys Can Damage Your Car's Ignition
Are you someone who loads up your key ring with lots of keys and
doodads? I never thought about this until my ignition wouldn't start
one day. The repair bill was $250. According to Tony Leonardi, owner
of Leonardi Automotive, a Diamond Certified company, I got off easy.
Some ignition jobs can cost up to $900, and it's not an uncommon
repair. The age of the vehicle is not a factor. In fact, the problem
is worse in some of the new cars.

Mr. Leonardi says the keys swing with the weight of the dangling
objects. This wears down the whole ignition assembly. With enough
wear, you end up with a car that won't start, or one you can't turn
off! To avoid this, don't hang everything on one key ring. Or use a
quick-release ring, which allows you to separate the remote and the
key you drive with from all the others.

Stumbled across this snake pit too..

   I'm sure
I read somewhere that a surfeit of keys on the car key bunch is
not
  good for the switch....

The lock part with tumblers and all is separate from the
electrical contact part. Feel free to hang sash weights from your
key ring.

Sometimes the circuit testing can get a little confusing when
looking for voltage drops. They only show up when current is flowing
and not when there is an actual break say wire powered up but
disconnected at starter (to prevent starter spinning) So you have to
be actually starting for it to show up.
There is of course a theory that the more relays you have powering
bigger relays and so on the more likely there is going to be a
failure. As far as I can see {and I may be myopic at times;o) } The
longevity /reliability of the ignition switch is down to it being a
sliding contact rather than a sprung open and shut case....I'm sure
I read somewhere that a surfeit of keys on the car key bunch is not
good for the switch....
Just counted mine: 15 keys 3 pictorial key fobs and 8 key rings
'uck!... Never lost/ dropped them without missing that bulge in my
pants/trousers or hearing them clatter to the ground!!
