[Vwdiesel] Diesel soaked engine

Question? My return line cracked and came of the IP while driving on I-40. I
noticed it at the exit stop sign smelling like diesel. The whole engine was
soaked with fuel. I cut and put the hose on again and got part way home and
it cracked and fell of again, I finally made it home only to have it happen
again. Needless to say that hose, which is only a year old isn’t meant for
that line size even though it slides on just snug enough to hold but not
over tight. Off to the motorcycle shop next week to get some of that great
blue fuel line to replace this with. That stuff is tough and flexible. So
since my whole engine has been soaked and I don’t know for how long other
than a few minutes. Do you think my timing belt needs to be R2? My cover
isn’t the greatest due to the metal shield on the engine side is all bent up
from PO. There is a ¼ inch gap up by the cam gear and by the IP gear. As
soon as the engine cools down I plan on spraying down with simple green and
hosing off.

Nick
