That is one reason I went with another head for the car, but as we all know
that one is dead now with a busted cam, but will be brought back to life
since I have a new cam for it as well as new valves, just need to get it
back together. But for now, I'm not looking at changing out the head. I'm
just going to live with it. I put 5k on it before the oil ring problem and
the bearings plasti-gaged great so they are still getting plenty of oil or
it would have shown up on them when I pulled the pistons out and checked the
mains with plasti-gage. But your idea makes sense if the holes are to big.
But then again the shop that rebuilt that head said that there were 4 of the
8 holes blocked, or at least they said that they were blocked. But since
then they tanked the head and cleaned it up so all should be good.  I just
about got 1k on the engine since I put it all back together and oil
consumption is very minimal. Not the one quart to every 400miles like it
was.
