Here's some lateral ideas...

Paraffin soak [is it called Kerosene over there] I once
heard that fizzy coke could do something.
You say there is a golfball sized chamber in the piston
crown. ... If you were  to put in ice in this container then
cover crown with an insulator such as asbestos and then heat
the bore with electric paint stripper; it may break the
'weld' Dry ice if you happen to have some...
