Nick,

AZ has boots.  You can get a regular boot where you pull the CV off the
shaft.  You can get a split boot, where you don't pull the CV off the
shaft.  IMO, the split is an "emergency repair".  I always pull
the joint off, clean it with solvent, inspect it visually, and 
repack with the moly grease that comes with the boot.  You'll need
a pair of end nippers to help tighten the clamp.  Side cutters
work in a pinch, and I reground a cheap set to work nicely.  99 cent
bin style.

Last I remember boots are under $15.
