[Vwdiesel] Injection Pump talk ---( for Pump Gang mostly )

1977 to 1984   Bosch   VE pumps..

ATMU     Bosch  claims that under certain operating conditions  ---the
control collar will be totally exposing the two drainholes. (NO fuel injected).

The tricky part to understand , has to do with the "BIAS" springs.

Like Val Christian pointed out wear and tear changes the action of the two sliding sleeves in the pump.

On the Governor is one sliding sleeve and on High pressure Piston is a 
sliding "Control Collar" .    Due to the small range of slide ----the " TUNING"  becomes
critical  ---AND  NO stickiness can be tolerated.  ----Use  diesel purge.

ATMU   --here is how it works.  ---you are half way down Jack-Ass mountain  in BC
or Pikes Peak  USA.   ---and them brake-drums of yours are just a smoking .     
What to do ?     ---first pray (real fast)  --then shift to gear 3 ----at 5000 + RPM that 
Governor has so much push on the sleeve that it  overcomes the force of the 
BIAS springs.----The control Collar is pulled way clear of drains.---NO FUEL
being injected.

Knowing that control Collar  full range movement is only 1/8 of an Inch US.   and
RPM goes from  0 to 5000 +     ----that makes for FINE TUNING..

OLD Pumps get a bit sloppy inside ---you know ?------After 20 years ?  it is 
miraculous that they will work at all  --(Bunny Bondo)

"Hillbilly TUNING"    does the trick.   -----NOT dial indicators and books.  --BUT
do those first.-------just to get experience.

William A Thompson   --tell your Boeing  friend that you know an OLD geezer up north
getting 78 miles +  to a gallon Imp  on a Rabbit (1984)   while a barrel is 60 US ?
And that he finds a Rabbit a totally reliable piece of transportatation.   Better than
some Boeing Planes I know about.   ----HE may soon regret that he did not keep
the VW Diesels.  -----The way Boeing is loosing orders these days.

I find that my Expertise  --fits hand in glove with Val Christian,James Hansen,Sandy Cameron
Roger Brown,Loren,   and more.    ----To me this exercise is mostly a matter of
FUN------sort of like Rubiks cube. ---------BUT I do understand that some of you
may depend on a Rabbit to survive ---keeping the Wife and Kids happy.

Rabbit reliable transportation ?  --YES YES YES --- BUT   reliable Electrically    ?
NO NO NO.

Totally unreliable as far as Electrical is conserned.  ----IMHO   --garbage    Hitler
would turn in his grave.     ----(if he could).(maybe he can ?)

You want perfection ?  ---get a Rolls.           

Yeiks  they  (the scumbags)   now classify  BBQ as a "SPORT" ?   Hagars BBQ is
