[Vwdiesel] 85 VW Golf NA - No Go

When I turned left into a parking lot I heard a clunk and the engine no 
longer engaged the drive wheels.  So I coasted into a spot.  I tried 
shifting into different gears and the car still doesn't move.  When I 
let the clutch out I hear a low rumbling/growling noise.

I just put in remanufactured drive shafts about 3k miles ago, does this 
sound like a cv joint failed?

There's tranny fluid in the gear box, not sure what I should check next. 
   The car has 182k miles on it.  Maybe a new clutch?
