First off, where are your Gulf Islands?  BC?

Without knowing more about the plant it is hard to appraise it's value.  You
need to identify the engine and also get the data off the alternator to see
how many kW it is rated at and the voltages.  Take note of the RPM as well.
It is likely 1800.

I was extremely fortunate to have found a big single cylinder 813cc,  10 HP
air cooled Petter on a genset just in the past month after searching for
just such a unit for years.  My PJ1 engine is as big as a VW diesel engine
and probably weighs more with it's massive solid steel flywheel.  The
alternator on mine sounds like it is as big as the one on yours.  I expect
mine to make about 5-6 kW (perfect size for a small home) when the engine is
restored to operational state and I make a new frame for it and a control
panel.  Mine was rusted to almost dust from sitting outside for a very, very
long time.  The engine and alternator survived because of sheer mass.  Now
that I finally got  the rusted solid piston out of the cylinder sleeve I
have today ordered a set of rings. I hope to have mine running this summer.

I could actually use another diesel plant so  if your find is within
practical shipping distance to me (one hour NW of Toronto), and you don't
need it I'd be happy to acquire it.  Offer 'em $250.00 cash, grab it and
sell it to me! ;)

hi gang.
i was snooping around in a forgotten shed on a neighbors property...
(long story..place just sold to some people who are only  going
to be there a couple weekends
a month..known as weekenders here in the gulf islands.)
and came across a very large old.
not hooked up...
'petter'  diesel generator.
it seems to be an air cooled engine..
(looks like motor bike engine)
i think 4 cylinder.
but forget..could be three..
the 'generator part is about as big as vw motor
 sept cylinder shaped
the motor part smaller :o) (vw content :o)  )

please forgive my ignorance..
but dose anyone out there know if this is a thing i need?
as  i may be able to get it.
not sure its value (if i need to barter)
im sure its waaay to big for my tiny place...
(i live in a  wood box)
but i was thinking..
