How about downshifting during that decel to keep load on engine up and rpms
up?

It didn't come out very well.  I meant to say just take your foot off the
diesel pedal going down hill and mash it to the floor going up hill.
Hopefully that's clearer.  Been one of them days...:>)

  I've kind of found that heavy decelerating seems to help seat rings.
That's certainly opposite opinions!  ;-)
