Are the Optima's more that just clones? Are they produced or just
marketed by Interstate.

When I got my last battery, I just measured the largest dimensions that
would physically fit in the battery location. Then took a tape measure
to the store and found the largest battery sizes that would fit, then
among those, went for the heaviest one (heavy = more lead = more
cranking/reserve capacity). Ended up with a Group 34, 1000CA/770CCA
Exide. I now run an Optima 800U (Red Top, 800CCA) and if you can find a
spiral wound, absorbed glass mat Interstate, go for that, they are
clones of the Optimas.
