great cells. BUT  expensive.

James I said GREAT CELLS.     ---  I never argue with performance  --so those of
you who ----want to check Sprirals out ?   James Hansen and Roger Brown are who to read.

I only advice beginners with OLD Rabbits.   For a DIY make sure you can see liquid
when removing vent caps.   ---for anlyzing condition of cells later.

I never said that I do not like synthetic oils and greases or spriral wrap batteries.

I may have overstated cost ---they (the spirals) are a fairly new arrival as far as cars
go.  Remember   I started in 1936  ---with my first very own battery (Cells).

I still have big Edison and Nickel Cadmium cells made in  1938 or so --and they
still work. -------The tapered terminals on the Edisons would blow anybodys
socks off ---no voltage drop there to worry about. All potassium hydroxide  1.2 Spg.

If James Hansen was a cartoonist  --- little Hagar in diapers would be sitting
in the crib  with a rubber nipple on a D cell  ----  sucking away happy as a baby.

Today a new Interstate battery for Bunny Bondo  is  1984 Rabbit turbo   is about 
110 + 5 + taxes   dollars  canadian  I just checked. ---Canadian tire is cheaper on
a spriral wrap   about 90   + all the taxes and fees.--a 72      cTc   10-4106.

In may 1945 I got my sticky little fingers on all those fantastic GERMAN  batteries
and the Excide  left behind by the Tommy.    ---- so after all these years ?  what is
the all around winner for a Rabbit ?   Nickel Cadmium.  by a mile.

or Edison.   Nickel Steel.
I am very passionate about Rabbit diesels and likewise about Batteries.and flying
machinery  ---yeah a nutcase really .   WHY ? else would someone
of my age still test batteries --and study them in details ? .  How many types
have I met ?   hundreds  ----carbon Zink to Organic Lithium ----and right up to the
latest. ---------- Remember that the Lead Acids capacity is deminished greatly
in the COLD.  --just as you need it the most.  ---The NiCad is different.

As part of the "Cold War"   steel gets weaker but Aluminium is ok. go figure.

PS :    yes there is a setback for ALL no maintenance batteries. More some other time.
and I have used spriral lead Acid cells for at least 20 or 25 years.?  they sure were
long lived.---------remember ? we are here for FUN ?.
