[Vwdiesel] dipstick issues

A friend of mine with an '86 Jetta NA has been blowing about three 
quarts of oil/day.  Since this seemed excessive, he looked for a leak 
and found it at the base of the dipstick.  He says that there's a rubber 
tube at the bottom of it as a seal.  The dealer, however, only can find 
an o-ring on ETKA.  I've not looked at it or had my own Jetta apart 
there.  Anyone able to give a better picture of what's in there?
