So where do you dumpster dive to find nickel steel and ni-cad batteries?
This serviceable- rebuildiable thing has me interested.
-James

Warning from Hagar : James Hansen ,Loren and ALL Nicads are addictive like
a VW diesel Rabbit .---no need to warn Sandy Cameron he is hooked line and sinker.

Yes Sandy Cameron dump electrolyte and replace with freshly made stuff
every 40 years ---needed or NOT. The oil in NiFe batteries is a shield for the electrolyte
so that it does not absorb Carbon Dioxide. ----It forms Carbonates that demish capacity
of the cells.

Buy Potassium Hydroxyde flakes and mix with water to about 1.2 Spg. ---yes it is critical
for Cold War effectiveness.(use distilled water only)

For SAFETY get a pound of Boric Acid keep handy while handling electrolyte.

Alkaline battries have passed the 100 year service life ---name me a Lead Acid that did 50 years ?
having problems ? bet your ass you do.

Sorry Sandy Cameron ---not to rain on your parade ---BUT those NiFe you got ?
does not look like --- 400 AmpHour. --.

I said the back side of the coin ? I mentioned Hight maintenance and low Effeciency ---BUT I
forgot to mention --very expensive to get NEW.

My last dumpster NiFe ? It was ok ---exept holes in a cell case ---from outside --elctrolysys.
(improper installation)
My left arm became lame so I was unable to get it home. ---- I personally phoned NiFe Canada
and they said a replacement (just the cells) was 50 000 Dollars Canadian fob Toronto.(about 1985)

James Hansen if it is still there I may get it for you ---cost to you ? a drum of Canola.

It may have gone to China --so do not disconnect the Hydro just yet.

It sat there not being used for many years. ---- kind of BIG.

More on finding Nicads later.

BUT they are all over the place -----mostly in BIG Mills and Mines. ---and Junc Shops.

Loren I saw the pictures from Ebay---- do not buy. Anybody who say add water and charge ?
do NOT know Edison batteries.

NiCads ? where did they start ? ---Sweden 1900. ---a guy by the name Jungner. But it took
the Germans to really get it going 1930 to 1945 ----enter Hagar ----I got hold of the best
cindered cells German Nicads at the Kastrup Airbase.------ an American copy can most likely
be found on MARS. -----------incredible battery.

I had (have?) a German walkie talky --throat mike nicad mattery and build in hand crank
generator .----WOW ---- 50 below outside Stalingrad 1943 --your cell phone could call Hitler ?
not a chance --hell the battery runs out on the street of the big Apple in summertime.

So there you are in a snow drift ? all you have to do is crank that handle to the meter
shown fully charged.----and call for HELP. --need water to top up ? smelt some snow.

By the way HELP is NOT coming.

To think that Hagar got unlimeted access to all that incredible technology exactly
60 years ago --come may 05 ? scary ---scary I tell you. how much longer ?
pisses me right off. ----the MOON ? without it ? not a chance. Both the Ruskies and the yankees
learned A LOT and fast. ---- Sputnik ? without German input ? are you kidding ?
a snowballs hope in HELL.

Admiring the ENEMY ? ---yeah kind of sick ---but that is the truth..
In May 1945 there I sat in the cocpit of a German twin ready to go I could see those
cannon shells in the middle of the cocpit floor ----in the breech. Real shiny --looked like
20 mm stuff . 10 years later ? I would have started the thing and taken off
for a bit of skylarking. --------------like the Danish mechanic for DDL who stole one
an shubbed off for sweden. ---right in front of the Germans. A Dane stealing a German
bomber ? yeah and a Dane and friends taking a German SUB to sweden.-----on the
surface ok ?.--------I personally went on board that sub(?) later back in Denmark. Just a
small piece of shit ----training sub ?..

Not a WOLF.

Hagar.

PS : like I said you can't get around my 1945 tales. Nicads or Not.
