Glazed cylinders occur when operator doesn't use high enough power
settings during break-in, too much oil stays on the cylinder walls, and
burns on in place, creating a layer that the rings won't remove, and
prevents the necessary metal to metal wear to seat the rings.
Characterized by high oil consumption, possibly high blowby, and no
decrease in oil use over break-in period. Requires removal of the
cylinder, re-honing, and new rings to fix.
