On the TD, I pulled it apart last year, so don't recall the spacing of gaps, 
but the end gaps were way over spec, something like 10-20mm when I put 
a ring back in the bore.
I haven't looked at the other NA engine yet - 2 of the pistons are still in - it 
is slow going as the bores have some surface rust from sitting out. The 
end gaps aren't great, about 7-10mm from a quick look. I'll take some pics 
if anyone is interested. I was just surprised this was a rebuild, as I thought 
it was the original engine from the van. Now I have to wonder about the 
mileage on the trans I got...
