This is in response to Hagar's request: my daughter's '91 Jetta is "running away", has done it 4 times now, always on the thruway, she is 27 she has been driving beat-up worn-out VW diesels (given to her by an admiring but cheap-skate father) since before she could walk. Tomorrow we will pull the valve cover and check the screen thingy, put in a new air filter, and practice again the process of hitting the brakes without using the clutch. Thanks all,... Dan.
