Yes, definitely take a look before going any further - you might be lucky to have the
KKK style drain line. I was relating the experience with the 85-87 Garrett turbos,
which represent the worst case scenario in many, many ways. (just try to put one in a
Vanagon as I'm doing, for instance...).
And yes, you could run a new drain line outside the mount also, but it will likely
require adapting the pan fitting if it's like mine - the fitting points straight at the notch
in the mount.
