Sounds fascinating.  Are you aware that Fleet makes a 2 micron large spin-on
filter for Caterpillar? I tracked it down looking for a filter for my 1.5L
diesel Rabit engine in genset project operating on WTF/WMO.  I can post the
part # if anyone wants it.  Not handy at the moment sorry.  It is a generous
sized filter about 4" diameter by 6.5"-7"  long to capture plenty-o-crud
before needing replacement and very affordable at around $10 ea.
