This is a classic example of "just try not to do anything stupid."
It's all just a matter of time until it happens to someone.  Each of
us just has to be careful every day that we don't do something dumb.
I get the impatient project people ragging on me at work about
why can't we do this or that, and why can't we just skip this or 
that.  I just take my time, and do things as careful as I can so 
that I don't do something dumb, whether it's just an airspace violation
or something more serious.  Often people just don't understand that
your job is to not expose them to unreasonable risk.  The questions I
always ask myself are:

1. Is it legal?
2. Is it safe, and what could possibly go wrong?
3. What would the review board have to say about it?

In the late 90's I was doing alot of remote sensing development where
I had to fly through the DC area alot.  One weekend I took my wife's
Uncle up, so that he could do a video shoot.  I did the correct 
negotiation with Baltimore Approach, and we launched from Gatithersburg
and flew Georgetown direct to Oxan.  This put us between the White House
and the Pentagon, and right over DCA (Reagan National).  Her Uncle 
went back to Buenos Aires and had video nights in the garage where they
viewed the DC video shoot.  

That trip impressed upon me just how much trouble the average Joe has
finding the White House.  Lots of white buildings with similar morphologies.
No surprise when in 9/11/2001, the suicide team ended up diverting to 
the Pentagon.  It's easier to find.  (Hint: when looking for the White 
House, look for the reflecting pool, and the Washington Monument for
verification that you found it.)
