[Vwdiesel] "PAINT" smell seems to be coming from Tdi Passat

Hi,

After shutting down our Passat Tdi, '97 the last two times I have 
noticed a strong smell like deck sealing paint.  Like turpentine.  Me 
thinks..." I wonder if the  Biodiesel  which we use fairly consistently 
is dripping onto the hot manifold?".  And if so, where from?

I am a mechanic of sorts but confess I have never looked under the 
engine cover of this car, and that suited me fine till now.  Anyone 
experienced this and have any ideas?  If I just take it to the dealer I 
am sure it will be costly.
