Wait for the venerable experts of this list to respond before trying
this at home- I have been successful with no damaging results, removing
the IP pulley by simply removing all bolts and lines from IP and giving
the IP shaft a good rap with a heavy hammer buffered by a chunk of 2x4.
The IP mount is stout and you could also shim behind the pulley with
shingle stock or lath to protect the pulley from damage prior to
striking the IP shaft.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] IP removal question
Do I need the VW tool to remove the pulley from the IP, or will careful
application of a standard pulley tool be fine?
