Here in Canada they put spigots into maple trees and let the
sap run into
pails. They collect the sap and when it is all gathered it
is boiled over a
fire in a big tub and stirred. The result is our world
famous Maple Syrup.
Great on pancakes, etc.
... Yummy yummy...(reminds me I bought some last summer and
it was/is very thin my last lot was very viscous.. but then
I kept it a few years)...
I guess you could put maple sap in the crankcase of
a diesel engine and when it is time for an oil change, drain
out the syrop
and use it on your pancakes! ;)
But seriously, I don't think sugar like syrops are suitable
as engine fuels.
have you ever seen what happens when sugar dissolved in
gasoline gets into
an engine?
Rob
... Ah you mean the 'sugar in the fuel tank' sabotage...
Heard but not experienced.
Call me crazy but who'd have thought we'd bring back
Thalidomide 'poison'..
I guess its too many lateral puzzles in my youth(and now)
What actually happens? Blocked jets in the carb? Surely if
the crystals dissolved in the tank then any crystallisation
in the jets could be redissolved with a less than saturated
solution. Could it be precipitation caused by the cooling
effect of gasoline vaporisation?
Maybe it was carboning up of the combustion chamber. Would
this happen in a diesel?
Don't know much about sugar except as an errant school boy
it sure blended well with Sodium Chlorate ;o)
