Very good suggestion ...it would need good even
contact all around.

I would install the sprocket as close as possible
to as it would be AS installed and running ...
with regard to the positioning with relation to
the cam. I might not turn the sprocket on the cam
during the process though ... might hide
mismatchings, high spots and gaps by smearing.

I agree somewhat; but a few degrees of slippage will
certainly help. I don't have any blue so as I stated B4
indelible marker should doooo...
