[Vwdiesel] Genset rpm and Diesels

Discussion on torque curves for 1.6 applications for gensets got
me curious about using a JD 4039T, which is standard in Elgin Pelican
street sweepers. It's a stationary rpm ohv engine, with Stanadyne pump
and injectors that powers hydrostatic drive and hydraulics. Torque
peak seems to be about 2k rpm, redline at 2250, hp rated at 110.
The engine in my unit has 8600 hrs, with irregular oil changes,
often operated in extremely dusty conditions. It's been fairly
bulletproof, but could probably use new injectors. Fuel transfer
pumps fail every few years, and I'm not at all fond of the oil filter
being mounted upside down, as low bid replacement cartridges can lack
a check valve.
