I was going to suggest the same thing, since I broke the little return
nipple off of my '97 Passat water snout, it was only $22 at the dealer
of all places.
However, since this is an '82, the sensors don't mount the same way. If
I'm not mistaken, these sensors are screw-in, and use a copper washer.
Still, that said, you will be taking your chances buying a used water
snout from someone, as they do slowly get thinner from the inside from
corrosion, and the dog-ears tend to develop cracks.
