[Vwdiesel] Front end bearing noise (again)

Gang,

To revisit:  Wheel bearing noise, increases in intensity with loading of
right side.  

-Replaced right side front bearing.  Noise persists.

-Pulled both rear bearings, and inspected, looking for race fretting.
All rear bearings look very clean.

-Checked all wheels for play.  No excessive play observed.

The noise is getting a little louder, and continues to disappear
if the left side gets loaded, and come in strong if the right 
side is loaded.  No signs of driveshaft/CV involvement.

Anyone ever see a situation where the bearing that gets unloaded
makes the noise?  

Still stumped, but eventually something will fail and become obvious.
Any more ideas?

ps: Not my car, but it could be given how much time it's spending here
