[Vwdiesel] Front end bearing noise (again)

I have been out of the loop on this one. I'm sure this has been covered but
since all the bearings are good, alignment is good, are the tires in good
shape? Could it be tire noise? Change tire pressure and see if the sound
changes any.

This is patently unsafe.
Never drive around the parking lot with someone on the hood unless they have
been anchored firmly with duct tape.

I expect a few holes with a hole saw should let you use the pipe. :-))

Seriously, I would look at the lower control arm rubber bushings. I wonder
if one is bad, and flex is allowing metal to metal transmission of normal
bearing noise, which would then be much louder than normal.

Mark,

I'm at a loss as to what to put a pipe on, with a FWD bearing,
where it seems everything is moving. The noise gets significant
at 40 mph. Time for bluetooth car diagnostic microphones!

At the moment, I'm thinking of running down the road at 70 mph,
and stopping without breaking. Then taking a passive IR therometer/
radiometer, and measuring the hub temperature. My concern is that
there are other factors which could have a greater error contribution
than the heat of a failing bearing. Slightly dragging pad, etc.
