A question for the experts: What percentage of the total volume of oil
would viscosity improvers have to be to make a a straight 15W oil look like
(15w)40 oil. 1%??? 60%??? If it's only 1%, then there is still 99% of
lubrication available in the mix. If 60%, then I would guess the oil would
only have 40% of the lubricating capacity of a straight 40W oil (ignoring
any lubrication aspects of the additives).
Just my $0.02 Cdn...

Hagar is in daily contact with the Refinery at Sarnia Kanada---MobilExxon --or Esso if you
like.
I get the usual run-around --it is PROPRIETARY information.---They do NOT like sticky
questions---and if you know Hagar ?--He does NOT take NO for an answer. BUT I have to give
credit to the Chemists at ESSO --they did provide me with lots of good specks.
If in Georgeous Nanaimo BC . ??? I Hagar would use 15 W 40 year round. --NOW if in James
Hansen Land ? --wow --that is a different kettle of Fish.---There you have to be a wizard
or you loose a lot of engines.--- Best bet there ? DO as James ---and you cant go too far
wrong.----I think he likes SYN and probably 0 W 40 ---when the frost is on the
Pumpkins.---BUT do not go by me --go by him.

In Flagstaff ? I would plug in at night and use 30 in a good engine and 40 in a Tired
Rabbit.---NO W on my cans.--trust me.

Hagar.
PS : the Nanaimo kid ? --I hope he is the Temagami Ont kid --why --he knows frosty
mornings.
By the way I buy 15 W 40 diesel lube at Wal-Mart in 20 litre buckets --and so far I am
very happy.
and so is Bunny Bondo.
