[Vwdiesel] HELP getting rear doors open

How do I get a rear door open?

I could spend an hour trying to take off the inside panel, to get at the
mechanisms, or I might drive the pins out of the hinges that hold the front
edges of the door to the frame....if indeed those are pins that can be
driven out.

ANY ideas will be greatly appreciated, and magical incantations will be
considered. I'd like to get those doors working by this evening. It is a
grand day and I'm working in my driveway. Tomorrow it gets chilly and may rain.

something.

Before Val Christian ? --I broke bleeder  screws all over the place ----After Val ?  never
broke a one.

Before Gavrik Peterson showed up here ?  I broke window handles like CRAZY.---After Gavrik
?  things are smooth as silk.---secret ? Lubricate rack and pinion ---now that you are at
it ?  with the trim off now is the time.

It is NOT necessary to remove rack to lubricate ----but Gavrik did remove one of mine
likkety split ----and for really cleaning it ? --that's the way.---Feel with your fingers
on outside of that thing that looks like tube. it is split ----sort of thing and it can be
lubricated ---using a WD-40   with that little spray tube----I use a piece of  heavy
solder to aim it just right --but anything formed like a horse shoe.will do.

I did one door hinge pins  ----will NEVER do that again.
