[Vwdiesel] Power steering bracket

I've driven thousands of miles on my gas Jetta with the same bracket broken. 
  I had no problems with it.  I did change-it-out when I replaced belts.  I 
found that another bracket (aluminium, triangulated and ribbed - bolts into 
the block right next to the oil pan) was also broken.  I don't know what 
came first... chicken... egg type thing.  So, if you have all of those 
brackets broken too, I wouldn't worry about it.  My P/S always worked well 
enough.
