On a similar note, the stock diesel vanagon has a restrictor in the oil
cooler/heat exchanger loop to balance the flow with the long run up to the radiator
and back. Otherwise comparatively more coolant would flow through the oil
cooler rather than through the radiator. The r,g,j do not have that restrictor
due to the shorter run to the radiator.
The flow through the stock oil cooler/heat exchanger has always bothered me.
The hottest coolant flows down through the cooler and then gets recycled
through the engine. I would like to figure some way to flow the coolant from
radiator, through the cooler and back to radiator.
