[Vwdiesel] another possibility instead of going to power steering

I was looking through the repair manual today and noticed that the
early A1 power steering pumps did not have an adjustable mount to
adjust belt tension. Instead they had a two part pulley like the
generator pulley on the old Beetles. Shims were added between the
halves of the pulley to lessen tension and shims were removed from
between the pulley halves to increase belt tension. Any chance one
of you good folks out there has one of these special pulleys? Since
they have the same bolt pattern as the water pump, It should be an
easy swap. As before, I would request that someone forward this to
the VWpickup list as Verizon doesn't want me to receive posts from
that server anymore. thanks, Hayden
