or some freaky harmonic...
-James

I Hagar missed University -- PITA ---but I am getting in to Wave mechanics at
3 --thanks to my mentor Doyt Echelberger---- Physics --men Physics ------ right now my
favorite vibrations are Mozart -- on the HI-FI.

But James Hansen did mention "Harmonics" ---and I do remember VW said that they put on
the damper on the 1.6L Turbo ---- something about 3 rd Harmonic at a certain RPM.

The first VW diesels had NO dampers. ---- Some of the GM V8 here has dampers on the
front.

And one of our flyboys can probably explain the Dynamic balancer on small Lycoming Piston
engines ---?---I have seen them years ago --- it was some sort of weight mounted on the
cranks ---and yes they did move.

For you whippersnappers and or Newbies ? --damper ? ----is like a chock absorber on your
front legs.

There to lower or kill Resonance.-----Personally I have seen tons of broken shafts one
was more than a foot in diameter.----some killed people -- Sandy Cameron --one killed the
sister of a mutual friend ---Bill Peppler of COPA.

Hagar.

PS : yes I picked Bill Pepplers brain a LOT ---no slim pickings.
