I strongly disagree. The same attention can be used while driving long
distances with cruise on. It just helps to alleviate the leg cramps from holding
ones foot in the same/similar semi-rigid position for extended times.

I just have to say, its a blessing. I use it in my cars that have it, and
I enjoy it alot! I think it keeps people from 'pushing' the speedlimit up a little
each time they come over a hill. Stupid people should not be allowed cruse though..
If you are using cruse in town, you should be shot, but thats another rant.
Out on the hiway, it is great. I broke my right leg in April, and am just
now getting to th point where I can walk without a cane, and ride my bicycle.
In May, I drove a 1500 mile round trip in my '99 Jetta TDI back to the Dayton Hamvention.
East of here its a little conjested in spots but for the most part not bad.
Sure made my just over 1 month old busted leg feel better not to have to keep it
on the peddle all the time!
About a month later (June) I made a 1050 mile round trip in a single day in my '03 dodge
truckm (yes, its a diesel!) from Sioux City, IA to Bismark, ND via Fargo, and then
back to Sioux city, via Pierre, SD. I had to pick up some bike riding friends who had
road from Sioux City, up to Bismark on their bicycles. The group (who I would have been
riding with instead of SAG'ing for) is retraceing the Lewis and Clark trail on Bicycles
over the course of 5 years, one week each year.
Made for a long day in the drives seat, but with cruse, the busted leg was not complaining much.
Out here its not uncommon to be able to put the car on cruse for a long time. One trip out
west, I put the Jetta into 5th and didn't touch the clutch for 640 miles on the way back.
I filled the car up at Rock springs WY, and made it a little past Grand island NE, and I
only had another 110 miles to go, but the bladder forced me to stop before I got home. (these
diesels test ones stamina!)
Anyway, I am getting well enough that I want to start working on my 2 rabbits. I think
I mentioned them a while back in early spring before I busted my leg.
They are covered up over at my dad's place in his back yard, both are missing
a radiator, alternator, and battery. I got one radiator from David Cook, so I am
going to try to get one of the two rabbits running this fall. One has a bad
half shaft, the other has a bad stearing column. A couple of the doors are bad, and I
need to get the windows working. I hope to make one good one out
of the pair, and keep the other engine for some other project later on.
So, it will be some interesting times this Fall/winter.
I will be out of "lurker" mode more often when I start wrenching on the wabbits,
probably asking a lot of 'dumb' questions!
