folks,
just a quick plug- if you are looking for 1.6TD eco
and non ecos, or 1.9 cores, there is an outfit in
central montana that sells them.  I just got 2
COMPLETE & GUARANEED RUNNING ecos (complete = pump,
turbo, oil pan, water pump, alternator, bracketry,
maybe a fly wheel, etc) for 1K each. He will deliver
in the NW and SW often for free, if you can wait a
month or so. GUARANTEED to run. He'll replace the head
if it is cracked. I have installed one with only
changing the timing belt and it is fine after ~18K
miles.

the next one i install i'll do a mini overhaul (rings,
bearings, check the head for good measure, etc) just
for smiles.
