Take it back to a dealer, there's a safety recall on the heater core. They
might try and stiff you, but persever and tell them you know there's a
recall, and they should look it up. if you still have trouble, come back
here and get the recall number (I don't have it handy, but others do)
Yes, you have to dump the A/C, and besides that, you have to dismantle the
whole car clean to the firewall, unless you cut the plastic heater box and
patch it after. Let VW pay for it.
