Less oil pressure with hot oil could be the cause. In my case, the turbo was noisier
just before I pulled it, and there was an alarming bearing like noise on shutdown,
which I thought was compressor wheel rubbing on the turbo housing. Turns out it
was coke on the turbine side. Could be that your seals have also gone, coking up the
turbine side.
